New to Chess ( <1000), Beginner (1000-1400), Tournament Level (1400-1800)
I’m a chess instructor at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, advocate for teaching and learning chess using a radically different approach known as the Contact method (you may be surprised, it doesn’t start with “showing the moves first,” which, according to GM Nimzovich, is “fundamentally false”). In contrast to the traditional method of teaching, it ensures a faster learning curve in the early 'critical learning period,' which constitutes the time during which chess knowledge develops readily and after which its acquisition is much more difficult and ultimately less successful.
You can find more details about the Contact method on my blog at http://iPlayooChess.com
As well as on the modern teaching technique for the beginner, the site focuses also on both the strategic side of chess and the art of the game.
"I am delighted to see a website like iPlayooChess that makes references to art and culture and is otherwise feeding the intellect as we enjoy the chess."
