  • Anti-cheating activist: led a petition to USCF in 2005; organized Chess Cheating Town Meeting in 2006 that drew wide attention in and out of the chess world
  • Leading US Junior competitor in early 1970s (finished tied 1st in Junior Open in '72; Pennsylvania Open Champion '73; member of Pan Am Intercollegiate Championship team in '75)
  • Author of several award-winning Chess Life articles since 2005. "How to Lose to a 1400", published August 2016, won CJA award for Best Humorous Contribution, plus honorable mention for Best Instructive Lesson (the 1st place author in that category was GM Alex Fishbein).
