Diary Entry 1
A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.

I am chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that I don't want. I must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing my own....

Diary Entry 2

I have met my Scythe, his name is Scythe Faraday. He said that he chose me as his apprentice because I was suited for the job. Me? I'm just a normal 12 year old boy. Anyways, Scythe Faraday showed me around his house. I asked why he had a kitchen, he said "Well Scythe's are still human aren't they?" He then showed me the rules of being a scythe. They were:

1.Thou shoult kill

2.Thou shall kill with no bias, bigotry, or malice aforethought.

3.Thou shalt grant immunity to the beloved, worthy and apprenticeship so that no scythe shll be able to glean then.
