Andrew Schley is a lifelong competitive chess player and full-time coach with over a decade of experience building champions, teams, and thriving chess programs across the country.

As a scholastic player, Andrew earned individual and team state and national titles — and he has since dedicated his career to helping the next generation achieve the same success.

Since 2011, his students and teams have achieved:

• Multiple Wisconsin State Championships (Elementary & Middle School)
• Individual High School State Champions
• Major national upsets at the Pan-American Intercollegiate Championships
• Players progressing from beginner to National Master

Andrew’s coaching experience includes leadership roles with:

• International Academy of Chess (Head Coach & Owner)
• Bay Area Chess (Lead Coach)
• Mechanics’ Institute (Head Scholastic Coach)
• Chess.com (Coach & Club Liaison)

Now based in Madison, Wisconsin, Andrew leads Growth Chess — the only brick-and-mortar chess center in Wisconsin — with a mission to make high-quality training accessible, structured, and competitive.
