If it were really in Monterey, I would absolutely go. I'm a big Anand fan, and six-year-old Cobblepot is a Carlsen fan.
Plus, tons of people I work with are Anand fans.

If Carlsen doesn't like Sochi, then maybe he would like Monterey.

steinbeck is from there. he wrote a book called monterey row which is about the meat canning industry.

Maybe monterey is a great location, but I don't think they will get the 5 million dollars together + the minimum 1 million dollar price fund that FIDE requires from the organising bid on such short notice
