UK films come out a bit later. But only a month later.

I'm schooled at myself. My rock must be deeper in the cave then I thought.

In the UK it was released on the 13th August, 2017. So my rock isn't that bad. It took 2 years to get across the channel.

According to rottentomatoes the audience and critics generally liked the movie. I didn't really care for it myself. It wasn't terrible, but I'd enjoy a typical comedy or action movie a lot more.

I thought it was pretty decent for what it was, captured many aspects of the period well. Fischer acolytes loathe it. It's intrinsically hard I think to make non-documentary films about chess, and Pawn Sacrifice is actually better than most. 'Zugzwang' is another decent one, though little known about.

I haven't seen the movie, but the reviews were glowing about Tobey Maguire's performance.  Tobey doesn't have the physical match of Bobby Fischer, but they said he got the other characteristics or mannerisms down.

I watched it a little on Putlocker.  I stopped watching after 45 minutes when they said that Morphy committed suicide.  The best I can say about the movie is that they got some of the names right.  It gets two thumbs way down from me.
