You're one of Fabio's Seconds. How would you help him beat Magnus?

I'm not sure I can answer that, but if I were in Magnus' team, I'd hire a psychologist to get him ready to withstand the  pain of his inevitable defeat.

First visit's topic: "Magnus, chess isn't everything". Second visit: "Being number 2 ain't that bad...". 23rd visit: "Yes, you lost, but Real Madrid won the Champion's ¨League again".

You get the drill.

Joking aside, I think Magnus doesn't stand a chance in this match.

Yeah! Hala Madrid and go Fabi!

But since you are serious do you want to make a wager on this match?

I like to earn money rather than take it away. So, no, I can't take your money away like that. happy.png

Assemble a strong team of seconds, go to florida, get in shape, and memorize some novelties. boom

I think Fabi should shave his head, or maybe a mohawk.  And black eyeliner.

Apparently both Vlad Kramnik and Nigel Short consider Caruana the slight favourite to win. Quite simply because they think he wants it more than Carlsen. That could very well be the case.

Caruana needs to steer Carlsen into some sharp prep lines that establish a firm advantage early on. That's really Fabi's best bet.

The longer the games go on with equality, the more Carlsen is likely to find (and hold) an edge.

Still, wanting it more can also work to your disadvantage...

Sure, but Caruana strikes me as a pretty level-headed guy.

By the way, I just read that Nakamura still thinks Carlsen will win.

Yeah he said it in an interview at Isle of Man.  His theory is that players who are playing poorly bounce back and have a good tournament.  His example was how Fabi played so badly at Tata Steel and then won the Candidates Tournament.

He said Magnus did not play well at the Euro cup so is due to bounce back and have a good tournament in London.
