Chess equipment in the UK!

ed1975

Hi folks,

Can someone advise on a good British chess equipment vendor? (The equipment doesn't need to be made in the UK).

And also advise on the following:

- A good, robust electronic chess clock

- A good wooden board with good matching (weighted) pieces

- A good roll-up board with suitable weighted pieces

Thanks!

I went to the Chess & Bridge Shop many years ago during a visit to London and bought an excellent board. They're still open: 44 Baker St, Marylebone, London W1U 7RT, UK

I would recommend Chess Baron - that's where I got all mine

You're welcome. If you choose wooden pieces, would (..pun intended..LoL) you choose the black pieces to be black (ebonised) or a dark brown wood for the 'black' pieces ? or would (..again lol..) you go for actual black and white painted pieces ? Would (LOL) like to know your final choices - you could post a piccie. Good hunting.

Me too. They also happily sold me spare pieces for my set after some were damaged in a cat-related incident

We can all use a search engine. But sometimes we want opinions about things, and Google doesn't always provide those. Now go away happy.png
