chess life magazines

I have a reasonable large quantity of old chess life magazines, are they worth anything or should I cut the articles that I want to read and recycle the rest?
I guess from the complete lack of conversation regarding this topic I would be better to cut up and recycle the old magazines rather than continue to let them take up feet of my book shelves.
how old?
back issues still sell on ebay, I believe.
Mostly 80s and newer, I checked there, most weren't selling for cover price and then when you take on shipping
