If you are looking for a good, tournament size, weighted plastic set, you might want to check out, for example, the Zurich series or Marshall series pieces on HoS...

If you are looking for roll-up board (for example to take to a tournament) restrict your choice to vinyl or silicone.  The mousepad boards, while generally fine, are thicker and therefore don't roll up as tightly (in diameter).  Also avoid the very cheapest boards - you get what you pay for...

There's also USCFSales.com, since I see the OP is from the United States.

Chess4less.com is a great site if you need books or software, but sets are not their thing, and selection is non-existant there.

221B Baker Street. Also, some people say that sentence doesn't appear in any of the books. I can tell you it doesn't appear in the ones I've read.

I'll second The Chess Store.  Their ProTourney sets are nicely weighted (2.5 oz. king).  Also Chess Geeks, they have a 4X weighted set and free shipping.  I own both and am very satisfied.

I'm new. This is my first time posting, and I'm in the same boat as BIG_K_757. I'm looking for a nice chess set at a good price. I've looked on the sites above as well and also on Chessbazaar.

Today, I found this site below. Seems they manufacture in Amritsar, India but have an office in Canada. I don't know if they're new or what, because I haven't been able to find anything about them on these forums.

If there are any members in the community that could chime in and give your thoughts on them it would be great.
