Goodknightmike, would you please message me?

I want to discuss purchasing a Chess set from you.

I'm sorry to have to post this so publicly but I am blocked from you at this time and I do not wish to publish my email address publicly.

Thank you.

It does seem illogical to block anyone who asks a question. They might have turned out to be a buyer.

Welcome to the club.

While I do not understand why he has blocked so many I observe it is those which he disagrees with.

He does have enough products on sale at eBay to be a small business.  It is unfortunate that he is using a tool designed for the internet player in such a restrictive manner on this forum.

But this is his problem.

macer75

This is pretty hilarious.

Who here has been blocked by goodnightmike? Was there a reason provided?

Man_Goose_Clarkeson

I'm blocked, but I have no idea as to why. Maybe because I was making fun of Chessbazaar because of their problems with the bleeding crimson stain on their Dubrovnik. If I remember correctly Goodknightmike was pretty vehement in their defense.

In any case I don't really care.

Eyechess

Well, I am obviously blocked by him as well.  And I was not given a reason either.

It also does not bother me.  As I said, this is his problem.

I also reported many problems about the CB sets I got. But I don't know if he has blocked or notLaughing

I'm also blocked by Goodknightmike (as well as wiscmike), he is one of a few frequent posters here who blocks anyone who disagrees with him. It is annoying as this means I cannot post in some of the long running discussions here just because Goodknightmike happened to start the thread. I have not seen a blocking system like this implemented on any other forum and wish that Chess.com would do away with it. Let appointed moderators police the discussions instead.

Let's post 123 photos of the same knight and lick our wounds.

I started that thread about advertising because I felt it would be good to necessary for us to know the person giving the review was doing so as a pure consumer or if he was receiving something back from the company for the review.

I am responding to BungaBungaFischer (great handle by the way) that got on and claimed goodknightmike was advertising in a few threads and posts.  Shilling was the term he used.

Of course we most likely will not need to worry about reading his critique of goodknightmike's postings further because he very most likely will be blocked, if he is not already.  Welcome to the cool kids club, Bunga.

Now, I certainly have enjoyed and been very informed by goodknightmike's threads and pictures and videos.  He did this in the past with a lot of Chess Bazaar sets.  Now he is on a rage for Official Staunton Company sets.  And I believe Carl when he says that he has not given Mike any discounts or product for Mike to do this.  Also Carl does put out very, very nice products, unlike Chess Bazaar that Mike was "pushing" before.  In all honesty you can't go wrong with getting a set from Carl and his Official Staunton Company.

As I noted earlier, goodknightmike has a small but real store on eBay.  The last time I was there and looking at what he sold, he had about 3 or 4 sets from Chess Bazaar on sale.  They were all the same set in different woods, if I am not mistaken.  I have never seen goodknightmike have any Official Staunton Company sets for sale on eBay or anywhere else.

However, it is my opinion that goodknightmike should start including at least a one line disclaimer saying that he is in the business of selling Chess equipment and whether the set he is reviewing is one that he is selling, will sell, received a discount of any amount for, or not.

This, in my opinion, would be proper.  But getting goodknightmike to do anything, even as simple as a small communication to one he has blocked, very well looks like a tough thing to do.

Carl, please don't be mad at BungaBungaFischer.  Heck, his handle alone makes you smile.  He just expressed his opinion of only goodknightmike's reviews.

Oh, so you just wanted to see if you would be put in the club.  I get it.

Well, welcome to the club.

At this rate, a very good percentage of the people that come and post on this forum will be blocked by goodknightmike.  It just reminds me of "Good night Irene."

Another-Life

This is the second thread today that someone makes to get around a block from another user.

Are these "omg *insertusername* blocked me, hellloooo look at me" threads allowed?!

Eyechess

Actually this thread was not started for the lame reason you say.

And of course it is allowed because the person doing the blocking is not chess.com or anyone in authority to moderate this forum.

It seems the ability to block was originated for the playing area.  You can block another from bothering you while you are playing and at other times.

That blocking ability carries over to the forum.

Also, the blocked person did not do anything wrong to the forum per se, otherwise the moderators would remove the offending writing and then ban him or stop him from being able to post at all on the forum.  No the person did nothing but offend the person blocking him.  And this offense, as in the case of goodknightmike, might be nothing but disagree with him on the forum.
