Well, I just received an email from the TD.

All that was in the message was this link:

    http://www.satrancas.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=1

    And:

    ASUS'umdan gönderildi.

I believe this roughly translates as sent from my Asus.

The link leads to this Turkish company's page selling their Olympiad set.

I just tried to order one and it looks as if it is out of stock.

that is definitely it.  doesn't look like they ship to the USA... $18.25 US.  that is a nice price for all that.  2012... out of stock... hmmm...

    What is biala?

    Biala is white.

I've found vinyl boards with reverse-colored borders online. For example:

Uhmm, that one has 3 1/2" squares and the lettering and design is really quite a bit different than the Turkish one.

And the ones you usually find are made of vinyl.  This board was either some kind of leather or rubber.  It definitely lays flatter than most vinyl boards.

I do already own some reverse color boards.  What is distinctive about the one Kenardi pictured is the design is very nice with the inner white border.  And, as mentioned above, it is not vinyl but looks to be either rubber or, as the seller has listed, some kind of leather.  In fact they say it is biala leather, whatever that is.

At one time ACE made these (leatherette) chessboards on vinyl.

If you ask nice, ACE might run a batch.

I agree, it might be leather from the description.

Dewain Barber was the person that owned ACE when he had those boards first made.  I own a few.

The problem with them is the white squares are a pure white, too white.  And the green vinyl that they can get is a very dark green.  The colors are too metallic or cold, in my opinion, to put a wood set on and have it match.

They start with the vinyl being that dark green color and then have the white printed onto that.  I imagine they could use an ink that has a bit of yellow in the white, but it hasn't happened.

Also about 2 years ago with Shelby as the new owner, I talked with him about these boards and he said the demand for the reverse colored boards was not great or even good.  When he had a number of boards made up he might sell a few and then have a good number of them sitting there unsold.

So, having him buy the green vinyl and then have the lot of boards made, just wasn't worth it, from what I gathered.

I guess that is out.  I have one too... the board I have the white ink is off-white, but it seems to be wearing off as well.

Anyone have any luck this week on the hunt?

    Nothing to help purchase one.

***marked products are not in stock or not available in the desired quantity!  <<< This is what you get when you try to order from this website.  So far, the only website that has it listed.

Still no idea what is printed on the board in post #1

Low resolution image...  Still, obviously not exactly the same thing printed on this board.  The board looks new to me... I'm guessing there must be a supply someplace, just not on the internet.  ???  yet.

I think the fellow in the last picture is the TD that I emailed about the board.

He sent me the link to that site, and nothing else in reply to my asking about that board.

I like the color and how flat that board is.

Based on the caption, that is the TD in the picture.  The web address he gave you is good, just seems the set is no longer available... or, maybe just out of stock for now.  Possible they sold out at the recent tournament.  The lettering in the bottom left corner might have changing since 2012...

Please post or ask seller to post their information here.  Thanks you.  Hopefully seller is able to ship to other countries.
