Last Night's Set--My Latest Soviet Acquisition

cgrau

Last night's set-up. A recent Soviet addition from the forties or fifties, refelted for better play. 11 cm. Kings. Weighted with glue, sand, and sawdust! It's as if the lead weights had been removed. Still good to play with, and a gorgeous patina on the white pieces.

A very sweet set Chuck, thanks for posting. Shown is Bukhuti Gurgenidze playing  Mikhail Tal with a similar set in 1961; Leonid Shamkovich in background.null

This set is so beautiful! I feel that it is a terrific color match with the board in your table. Hope this combination led you to some inspired play last night!
