Looking for a Specific Book

TacticalBlindSpot

Years ago I saw a book (I believe it was printed in Russia) that had a "guess the move" style where the author provided a score for moves.  I recall some of the games in the collection, and that the book was formatted into 8 chapters with 8 games in each.

The games I recall being in it are

  • Byrne-Fischer 1963
  • Tal-Padevsky 1963
  • Botvinnik-Robatsch 1966
  • Lengyel-Geller 1965
  • Fischer-Spassky 1972
  • Foguelman-Bronstein 1964
  • Alekhine-Book 1938
  • Knaak-Uhlmann 1978

Does anyone have any idea of the title/author of this book?  Alternatively, is there a good resource for searching for books by games they include (i.e. searching for Alekhine-Book 1938 and getting a list of known books that included that game in their collection)?

at the risk of stating the obvious, you might try a search....

The issue is that such searches give a lot of results (thousands!) that are completely irrelevant. Perhaps someone else's GoogleFu is better than mine, but I have been unable to find the title of the book in question using search engines - hence the question.

Google  "Solitaire chess books". Hopefully you find it. Good luck!

Is it Mastering Chess Middlegames: Lectures from the All-Russian School of Grandmasters?
