Beautiful collection. I really hope you have some fun and interesting games on them.

@TheOneCalledMichael Those are uniformly gorgeous sets. Congratulations. What happened to your SC padauk Dubrovnik set?

TheOneCalledMichael

That's in my B collection 😁

Hah! I was wondering what happened to all your other sets. I continue to debate whether to buy the maple stained SC Dubrovnik or the padauk version you have. The ebony does not appeal to me. The Noj set is stunning. I think your plastic Dubrovnik set is especially attractive for a plastic set.

TheOneCalledMichael

You have excellent taste mister! Good choice! They say padauk is the new red. You got to enjoy the red color now and when it gets darken over time, you'll get to enjoy dark brown color with a faint of red glow. Twice the pleasure for the same money.

True about the plastic Dubrovnik. What makes it even more appealing it's the set used during 1996 Olympiad, so it's a set with a historic past. Win win happy.png

Great collection, you have really good taste! Dubrovnik and Chavet are real traditional European sets with which it is a pleasure to play and analyze games.

I loved the "B collection" response...Cracked me up.-happy.png

Michael,
Any chance I could trouble you for a few close up, detailed pics of the knights from the 1950 set?

Thanks for your consideration.

Michael,

In your opinion, is the ‘snout’ of the night a little too thin when looking at it head on?

NICE. Since you have the camera out, can you take a few more of the Knights at 20 and 30 degrees? Between straight frontal and 45 degrees. (Between Knights 2 and 3)

That thin straight frontal shot is NICE! Very "rare" angle to see. Thanks for taking the time.

And Michael, thanks for the pic!!!

Wow! This is the only way many of us will ever get this close to the 1950’s again! (In more ways than one.) Thank you to The One for sharing your collections with us. Very nice “head on” shots of the Knights.

TheOneCalledMichael

No problem guys, love doing this happy.png

@mister Pawn I'll have your shot in couple of days, gotta do this at work. We have large place there with beautiful natural lights coming in from all directions.

@mister Krames I have to admit I'm used to thicker snoots because that's what I have before this Noj 1950 but I get used to it quickly. It is how the original looks like and I don't want to have it the other way happy.png

I think I’m going to go w that line of reasoning. Go w the original look and feel. Thanks again for the pics and responses!

I found your requested angle in one of my comparison shots btw.

Very big difference in size and shape. Which is closer to the original? Which is better to play with?

TheOneCalledMichael

Whoaa tough to tell, two different beast as one is 3.75" and triple weighted and one is 3.5" and unweighted. I can play both without problem, each set requires different style of handling.

It depends what you're using it for like rapid or normal play and the likes. For me personally for rapid I prefer light set as long it's stable which this set is. For normal play either is fine for me.

I'm not sure if 3.5" is the original size. I thought it was but I can't find that article no more.

Pawnerai

Very nice side-by-side comparison. Thank you for taking the time.
