That's true, if the pieces have some weight to them and the board is a decent quality. I love the look of it, but as you say it's about how the finish is.

In truth I was/am a bit angry at myself for not just ordering them earlier at the cheaper price, but I thought well, October is a while away and let it slide.

I was a buyer but the weight issue is a major factor for me

I wondered why they didn't list a full set of specs on their website until I heard that the entire set weighs only 550 grams, that's just a tad over 19 ounces! Honestly, that's pathetic. Unless the mass of this planet suddenly doubles, I wouldn't be using this set to play outdoors. At least, not without a windscreen.

Hahahaha...

It would be a shame if they're too lightweight to be practical.

Remember those cheap hollow plastic sets we played with as kids, A sneeze would send them sailing, and bump would send them tumbling. We spent more time picking up those damn pieces than we did playing chess! Of course, most of us had ADD, but without medical restraint, we didn't do much of anything more than 5 minutes at a time. happy.png

Rumour has it that these pieces actually float.
