Each piece individually rolled in bubble wrap. Beautiful!

Will be posting the Knights shortly, anything else you’d like to see while I have the pieces out?

Just the 4 Knights would be awesome. From lots of angles.  And only if you have the time. It's very much appreciated. thumbup.png

While we wait for the knight photos, anyone else notice that the Grand Swiss has been using this WC set? From some quick glances (I haven't been able to watch as much as I had hoped) I saw a mixture of knight styles ... some "traditional" thin, some fat, and some in between. They're all canon now. grin.png

Is it my imagination or are these horse heads a bit longer and sleeker than past years? Goes well with the slim necks. Awesome set! Thank you for taking the time to take pics. Enjoy the heck out of them.

For comparison, here are the Knights from last year's batch of WC FIDE Official sets. Both look great!

Interesting to see that comparison! Yeah the knights I have definitely look more elongated on the head and not as angled down as last years! Interesting how these knights seem ever changing lol

I don't think it's so much that they're changing as their carvers are incredibly inconsistent and the QC isn't too good. wink.png

I thought about contributing this opinion but decided to not risk the wrath of the fanbois.  tongue.png

Yeah, they should definitely upgrade their QC system. I think something went wrong in 2020/2021 in that area. And it is both regarding the pieces, as well, as the boards. Alghough I can not complain about the board from Ferrer in Studio Set. And I also wonder why the design of not only the knight but also the bishop have changed so much in recent years...

Yeah, I'm guessing they bring on new manufacturers all the time to meet demand. "Close enough" is a phrase most people are ok with. Even the Plain Jane DGT Timeless pieces are slightly inconsistent if you know what to look for. The changing thickness and depth of the Bishop mitre cut is a pet peeve of mine.

Hopefully the style is consistent throughout the individual retailer's "batch". Or else trying to get a replacement piece will be a nightmare. The photos posted by @liftedskylark are great but Chess Baron is sold out at the moment, and no one should assume that another retailer's "batch" of WC FIDE pieces will be the same. Although, HoS seems to have the same slim elongated horse head if one is to go by their product photos.

I'm still working on my review of the Studio Pieces, but I can already reveal: The style is not (necessarily) consistent, at least not at World Chess. sad.png

Edit: It's up now, you can find it here.

Always feel free to share your opinion, I love seeing both sides of thought whether that be negative or positive.
