Opinions on this House of Staunton Clearance Chess Board?

I found this House of Staunton Classic Traditional Chess Board on clearance for $59 (originally $159). It's made with striped ebony and maple wood, has 2.5" squares, and is 0.5" thick with a satin finish. Has anyone bought this or a similar clearance board from House of Staunton? I'm curious if clearance items like this tend to have any noticeable imperfections or damages. Also, any thoughts on the quality of these materials for regular play?

Here's the product link( https://www.houseofstaunton.com/chess-boards/clearance-striped-ebony-and-maple-classic-traditional-chess-board-25 )

Thanks in advance for your help!

In my experience, the ‘Outlet’ is where damaged products are offered, and the type of damage is described and photos posted.

‘Clearance’, as far as I have seen, are just discounted products, not damaged.

Yes, HoS clearance products aren't the same as their outlet products. The outlet products don't meet the HoS standards due to either damage or manufacturing issues. The imperfections are described in some detail (often with photos) on the outlet pages. In this case, the clearance product is likely just stock reduction of low-quantity-remaining item that might have been a slow seller. The quality of the board is very likely to be just as you would expect for any HoS board at that (original) price point.

Over the past 6 months or so, the Outlet has seen a dramatic reduction in the number of items posted. There used to be one or even two drops per week of new items in the Outlet. It’s now closer to maybe on e per month and the pricing isn’t as incentivizing. It looks like products languish there. This isn’t intended as a complaint - HoS is one of my preferred sources - just an observation of a change.

I bought a $59 clearance board and it arrived with a damaged corner. On the other hand, both clearance sets I bought were perfect.

I’ve bought a bunch of HoS chess boards via clearance. They’re gorgeous boards! No imperfections. Or at least, no imperfections you could rightfully consider defects.

The last two boards was me testing out the Tal set I got my wife on clearance on different boards, to see which board I should gift along with the set. I decided the Camphor burl board was the best fit, although this board with 2.5" squares was a bit too large, so I ordered the same board with 2.25" squares.

My wife now has 2 HoS boards on clearance, and I have 3 more left to gift. I also got myself another blue one. I think they’re amazing value. You can’t go wrong with these!
