I'll need to look. I don't recall much difficulty, so perhaps the depth on mine is/are shallower? It's certainly a consideration I hadn't thought of and if it might be for someone else, they'd be wise to try one out if they can first. Given that it wouldn't be too hard to pull out those inserts and add some kind of liner (or, what I would do because I am lazy, just put the pieces on one side and piece of foam rubber on the other, that wouldn't even need to be attached).

Y ahora no me van a regresar mi dinero. Este es un pésimo sitio y honestamente me siento muy estafado. Me da mucha flojera ver el diamantito de premium a lado de mi nombre... Estos payasos piensan que somos todos ricos?

I loved the idea at first too. I had this one. https://www.chesshouse.com/collections/travel-chess-sets/products/12-magnetic-travel-chess-set-in-black-and-boxwood. The individual slots look so good. It looked so organized and neat. The best part is the case is the size of a record so I can place it next to a few vinyl I have left. What could possible go wrong with that. This was my exact thinking. That is until I had to remove the pieces from the slot each time. The problem with the one I had was the pieces sat flush with the foam. The foam was on the hard side. Both things made it difficult to dig the pieces out. The board recommended by @Sound doesn't have pieces that sit flush with the foam so I assume it might be easier. For me, the individual slots looked and sounded so good on paper until I actually had to use it. If you don't mind digging the pieces out then more power to you.

That's a nice little set mr Mc!!! Did you buy it recently or a long time ago? That little set I could see myself buying happy.png

edit: no no no! I already have one I already have one! Heathen be gone!

It was back in early 2019 or late 2018 I believe. It was the first set I ever purchased. It was a mistake buying it because I have not stopped buying sets since. It would have been cheaper to just use Stockfish. Haha! Anyhow, I stopped using it ever since I went to tournament sized sets. I gave it away to someone since I wasn't using it.

Ah good good, so it has been out of stock since. They're not coming back happy.png

The pieces look good though, I also like the board and it has a neat storage system.

It had a terrible smell to it when new. It was supposedly due to the glue which might be the reason it won't be back. Oh well.
