Pieces

I recently received this chess set as a gift but 2 of the pieces were missing, a black pawn and white rook. Anyone know where I can get replacements?

I am not sure but they look like they are made from marble? If you could post some more information such as the dimentions of the board and the material that would really help. Also knowing the weight and height of some of the peices such as the king and queen would be helpful.

Are the White peices slightly translucent or is that just the lighting?

Those style of pieces are usually carved in Mexico of marble or alabaster. I did a quick image search using "stone chess set mexico" and found a number of similar sets. I suppose you could try contact some dealers that carry them to see if they would sell any individual pieces. It might be difficult to find pieces that will blend well with your set though.

The king is 4" but I don't know the material. They are a bit translucent but the afternoon sun was shining on them. The pieces are a milky white with the gray and brown mixed in. Don't know who made them or where they are from since they were bought from an antique store.
