Please recommend compact chess set for analysis

a5zima

Hello, chessplayers...

I want to buy a compact chess set for analysis and I am stuck with that simple question. Two main wishes - high quality and delivery from EU or UK shop. The main problem is that I am a crazy perfectionist, but manufacturers usually don't pay much attention to small sets.

I lost hope to find a compact set of wooden with high-quality pieces and stopped on the plastic, but it's obligatory for me that plastic pieces will be weighted and also be very high quality. Only one candidate for that was found on wholesalechess.com  Marshall Series Plastic Chess Pieces with 2.875" King.

But delivery from the US will cost me 37 euro, more than chess set approximately for twice. So I am again stuck. Maybe you can tell me how to solve this puzzle )) compact wood sets are also being considered. And for the really quality set I'm ready to pay up to 100 euros (but not for delivery).

Thank you! )

This one maybe:

It's a new Chavez set, it's weighted and felted.

The Marshall Library compact pieces are excellent I have the Natural and black my son has the red and white. We got them from Wholesale chess too. However, we live in the States. There are other distributors that sell this set most are probably in States too, but you could compare shipping. Try Chess House or House of Staunton and compare shipping. House of Staunton is the brand name of the set and is printed on the base of each king. The set plays best on a board with 4.5 cm squares. Most USA distributors will advertise this size board a 1.75 inches or 1.8 inches.

This could be a good option. A Dubrovnik plastic Analysis set.

Ships from Slovenia. Not sure about weighting, maybe you could write to them about it.

Is being able to put the set away safely with a position still set up on the board a consideration?

If so, and if you're willing to consider pegged sets, you could do worse than consider antiques- eg:

or this sort of thing (I have a couple of these and they're really nice):

ChessBazaar offers free shipping.  Maybe one of these would fit the bill:

I just ordered this one along with a 45mm square size board.

Thanks to all. I carefully looked at everything, but have not yet found a suitable option.

Maybe this history of my research would be useful for somebody:

For something unusual at a reasonable price you might like this one.  They also have a black and natural set that is in stock.

O yeah, looks incredibly cute!

40% sale, so the price is only 68 euro, but polish buff and no color choice...

The Chessbazaar site says the set with the red pieces would be able to ship the end of February.  The set with the black pieces are available now.  I ordered a different set from Chessbazaar a couple of weeks ago and it took only 4 days to arrive at my house.

What about finish type (glossy or buff polish)?

In the UK....

Always liked the Knubbel set, too! Nice to see that Chess Bazaar is doing an ebonized version of it also. It's easy to see why Bent Larsen liked it as any analysis set. Very sturdy!

You literally can buy vinyl boards and plastic pieces all over Europe. Why order from the US?

Oldlefty

a5zima, the Chessbazaar Knubbel set comes in a glossy lacquer finish for an extra $29.99.  Buff polish is the standard finish.

For UK Kaoori has some great offers of wooden compact sets https://www.kaoori.co.uk/product-category/travel-chess-sets/

For US check the official chess federation shop https://www.uscfsales.com/chess-sets/luxury-wood-chess-sets/sort-by/price/sort-direction/desc.html

This may be something to consider as an inexpensive alternative:
