What I don't understand, If I was considering a scam I wouldn't consider chessplayers as ideal targets. Maybe it has something to do with bragging rights "I scamt the whole chess community". Seeing Angel posing as a Menza member that could be the case.

Mate, sorry to break it to you but being a chess player doesn't make you harder to fool than Joe Average. There are plenty of stupid chess players too. An hour spent on the forums here prove that.

Yes, you're probably right. After the second video I was quite convinced. I don't know enough about magician tricks or videoediting to see the way that video was manipulated. I didn't know human faces could be rendered so convincingly.

Whether it is a scam or not I think it's safe to say that L cost Regium a lot of backers. His posting style turned a lot of people off him and then off Regium by association. His rabidly defending Regium against any and all doubts and concerns caused many people to scrutinize anything and everything to do with Regium, raising even more doubts and concerns.

It is surprising that not a single comment coming from chess24. They seem to be very busy celebrating anniversary not seeming to realize that the name of the World Champ has appeared side by side with Regium. I wonder what is going on...

I think the product probably was working as shown. The forums are so toxic that you have all ruined this for everyone. Why would they release it now? Hope you’re all proud of yourselves. This sort of vigilant detective behaviour will also deter others away from kickstarter.

There is not a snowball's chance in hell it was working as shown. Multiple fake videos, multiple fake profiles in their about page, cagey as hell magician style videos replete with unnecessarily complex convincers. I'm a professional magician and their 2nd convincer videos looked like a magic show!

In light of recent public discussions about Regium Chess, and a failure to receive necessary assurances in private, it has been decided to stop the company's sponsorship of the chess24 Banter Blitz Cup. chess24 does not endorse (and has never endorsed) Regium's products.

Glad I found this thread. I was about to back this thing on Kickstarter since the videos looked so convincing to me. Guess I got fooled, but luckily there are skeptics that did the research and exposed this scam. What a shame, I was really excited to back Regium and get my hands on this board asap.

We were all excited - would love for this to work - what a dream it would be - full API's for creating your own apps, uploading tactics puzzles into the board to train. It would set up every position for you - man I wanna cry thinking about it

So after all that has been exposed by "this sort of vigilent detective behavior" do you feel comfortabele backing this project? Man, I'm as dissapointed as any but that doesn't mean we look the other way desperately believing it is real.

The ball is in Regiums court, either they will take up chess.com's and Liechess's offer to verify their project or lower the veil on what stage they might truely be. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy my squareoff chess board and await the neo I ordered. Perhaps Squareoffs now inspired to make a full sized 2" to 21/4" board themselves.
