For those interested, here is my fourth video concerning this SilverBack Chess Clock. This one is about time odds for handicap and Armageddon games.

Shelby, just curious: are you using a laser to engrave the back of the clock, as shown on Big Lew’s model?

If so, what laser and software?

Skeeterbreath,

Of course I use a laser to engrave the clock. I am still playing around with the whole system. I use "Lightburn" for the software.

hope this helps!

Shelby,

Was curious because that is the industry I work in, engraving machines, both laser and rotary, along with the software. Was wondering if you use Epilog laser, Universal, etc. I know many people use CorelDraw to send jobs to laser, but I have run across Lightburn users as well.

Corel and Lightburn are fine for onesies, twosies. Didn’t know whether you were doing mass production batches of personalized clocks.

Anyway, the engraved clock back is a nice touch. Looks good

This is the way I was looking at it...the Silverback Chess Clock is on the high end of the spectrum. If I can offer laser engraving for my customers it is like an insurance policy on the clock. Almost all clocks stolen end up being sold on Ebay or sites like that. It will be near impossible for people to sell a laser engraved clock and not have people ask questions on where it came from...especially if it does not match the name of the person selling it.

And it looks cool.

One of the cool things I am doing is offering clocks to the bigger tournaments to hand out as prizes. I will laser engrave them with the tournament name, logo, section, etc. This makes it a "Useable Trophy" kind of thing while at the same time promoting my clock.

Thanks

Shelby

Using the SilverBack. Actual game video montage

Last Saturday I took my SilverBack to the local club. Everyone seemed to be impressed with it. I let others use it along with my HOS Championship pieces and folding wood board. I let both adults and children as young as 9 use it. I took some video footage of the clock in action. The above link is to the YouTube short, same video is also running as an IG & FB reel.
Please check the video out if you have a spare minute, because it’s only sixty seconds long.
The link is above.
Thank you; Big Lew
