What chess pieces are these?

These are from the 2017 St. Louis Rapid and Blitz Tournament

It looks like a version of the Imperial Collector but I just wasn't sure....wanted some more opinions.

I believe this might be the set you're looking for:

I think the set in the photos is actually the same set you recently purchased.

TheSultan31003

I think so too, but I wasn't sure.  I thought they had more expensive sets in St. Louis.

TheSultan31003

I got the Imperial Collector set.

PatricKnight

Gorgeous set. I recently bought new pieces and a board, but nowhere near as expensive. I'll post some pictures when they arrive.

TheSultan31003

sounds good man.

crusaderwabbet

That's a pretty pricey set.

TheSultan31003

They do tend to use the more expensive sets in the major tournaments. Im just wondering if anyone knows the exact name of these ones.

Check the House of Staunton website, they sell the sets from some of those events.

TheSultan31003

Yes I've been on there. They had the set from the 2019 Rapid and Blitz event but I couldn't find the set from the 2017 event.

That's an Imperial Chess Set from HOS. They are the official suppliers to the Sinquefield Cup.

No this is not a set. This is just a luxury set. Chessbazaar also sell Imperial version.

That looks correct.  Thanks man for finding that.

TheSultan31003

I was suspecting thats what they were as I was looking to purchase an Imperial set before but I wasn't 100 percent sure. I thought it could have been something else.

The HOS did sell the 2016 Sinquefield Cup chess set on their website. But that was a limited sets sold. All were DGT version which were actually used in the tournament with all players signature. But the prices were eye watering. I've been following up the Sinquefield cup since 2011 and also have a 3.75" Imperial from CB. Let us know when you'll get an Imperial chess set for yourself and from where.

But since 2017, the HOS has been providing with the Craftsman chess set for all the Sinquefield chess championships.

I have an Imperial Chess set from CB.  I actually really love it.  A couple of things that I noticed once I got them.  I wished the Queen's crown were a little more spikey, (like the 2017 St. Louis Rapid and Blitz)  They are a bit rounded, which isn't totally bad I guess.

The the top of the towers on the rooks are a little bit thin.  When I think of a rook, I think of a tower of power.  It should be thick and powerful throughout it's entirety.  It should never be thin in a cross section.  It feels paradoxical to its function, IMO.  In the HOS version, the cross section is much thicker, the CB version is a bit thinner.

My favorite piece is the bishop!  I often get the bishop pair when playing OTB and I absolutely love playing with them.  Wonderful pieces and beautifully crafted.

The knights are exquisite as well.  I've had an octopus knight in OTB games as well that have felt intoxicating to wield.

I recommend getting the lacquer coating for an additional $30.00 but that adds an extra layer protection and class for the pieces.  The shininess looks brilliant when on a board that has that same matched gloss.
