This set is mediocre and a waste of money. You got scammed because it's NOT worth $750. Just because FIDE puts their stamp on it increases the value from $200 to $750?

This set is worth at *MOST* $250. Throw in the board and then you can add another $100 to that.

You are correct. This is a ugly snd over priced chess set.

With the photos sparse and bad and the 2nd hand price at 89% (okay, plus free shipping), this thread is either meant to sell the linked original product or it is just a shy try to aim high. I mean, I don't like this set for 20 or 200 dollars, but just to think of it, somebody might be interested and cannot look at that individual set because the photos are small and blurred. And when there is a friendly question, the seller doesn't jump to the occasion to explain everything about the board (which doesn't look like the board of the linked product). Silence, shrugging and 'meh' is the warmest possible reception happy.png

I actually think World Chess has designed a very nice set. It was designed by internationally renowned architect and designer Daniel Weil. It's also the official set used at some tournaments. Some people want this. Personally, I would love the World Chess studio set.

And some people want inexpensive sets manufactured by companies with dubious business practices or violate copyrights.

I believe World Chess offers free shipping in Canada, US, EU and UK and the price asked for a used set may not be discounted enough for some here. I think the asking price is high. Blurry photos and no listing on a reputable site like eBay may also be red flags for some.

The problem is the chess set itself is dubious....

Yes, but you also shamed the person for their personal taste in chess boards (not because it was dubious). It is a well designed set from a renowned designer and is an official FIDE set. These are some of the reasons for the price and also why it's desired by some collectors or players.

I believe the pieces are made in India and had some initial quality issues (that have now been resolved)... but you are dealing with World Chess for customer support which I've heard is great too... easy to get replacement pieces. There's also a DGT option (not that you can't DIY it... thats not what some people want).

I would recommend the OP post it on a site like eBay with better photos (and probably a more attractive price). Anyone spending that much will want some assurance on purchase protection.

I wanted to say the set is not for me, but for those who like it, it would have to be presented differently. I couldn't have said it as well as chesslover0003 who is simply respectful of the set and is friendly, like I should be. happy.png

Do not fall for the marketing. This chess set is way overpriced for what you get....

And on top of this... The design is awful to play on, and this design is one of the most despised chess designs by the chess players who are forced to use them.

Interesting video, I have not seen this.

I don't disagree it's expensive. That is what happens when a set is designed by a renowned international architect and backed by FIDE for official events. I'm not saying it's suitable for you or others. Some of it is subjective.

I've got the knock off version of this set and other than the bishops miter cuts being a little rough I've got to admit it's pretty awesome for the $100 that I paid for it. I can't believe that the real set is that much better.
