WTB: Best Chessmen Ever (BCE) set

seb053

BCE 1 Western with stainless base on tigerwood and maple board. The grain stripes on the pieces and board match surprisingly well. The picture does not do it justice.

I've always been a classic Staunton guy but BCE is uniquely beautiful and functional.

In Spain is always like that.

You should really stay away from this forum.

Nausea-Sartre as a handle is precious. A pretty good indication of classic trollism, methinks.

In any case, you've taken a stand. Good for you, and best of luck.

The pieces look very stylish indeed [a right-click, open picture in new tab reveals the full resolution], but maybe they'd standout even more on a "cleaner" board? The tigerwood board, though beautiful, overwhelms them a bit.

A legitimate point, and not for everyone's tasre, certainly. But the combination in person is quite nice.

The simplicity  of the design is exactly what makes it work with the tiger wood, in fact I've never found another set I like with that board.

I also have a custom board of curly maple and walnut that goes really well with the Walnut natural BCE.

For my ebonized BCE, I do prefer more straightforward boards, with plain black or red dark squares and white or cream light.

All are great to play.

My favourite set - can't recommend them highly enough. I went for the Stage 1 Natural with DGT

Fantastic! Perfect setup. Can't be bettered.

Nice. Sort of neo-traditional.

I confess (!) I like the curve of the Western bishops a bit more than the Eastern, but understand THAT can of worms.

Beautiful post that invites play. Thanks.

This is a Nice modern  chess set , like the Noj stage 2 with the collars & base .

Mind you would be afraid to use it in a tournament ,  As the cost of the set being what it is !

And not everyone would handle with care meh.png ?

Has anyone noticed a striking resemblance between the BCE Stage 2 Western design by Jonas Znidarsic with the FIDE 2013 design by Daniel Weil?
