I have played several games now with the following opening being played against me 1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 now i know it obviously attacks black's f7 the kingside bishop pawn and opens up use of attacking knights down blacks kingside and tWhites Queen.

Has anybody any ideas of opening name and also any sound defences i can  study.

Any information would be much appreciated as im learning chess and hope to improve to a reasonable standard.

1.e4 e5 2. Bc4 is called Bishop's Opening.  There is analysis of it here.

Hope that helps!

It is a fine and old opening. White's idea is often to get an Italian game without allowing the Petroff.
