Because I've been finding lost of people using that opening as white and I've lost a few games as black against it (because I have no idea how to play against it as black).

Now I have to go study it. Lol.

My solution to C4 has been to play some Karo-Slavy thing with ...c6 and ...d5, works for me :D

VULPES_VULPES

Usually transposes to any 1. d4 opening, as well as some 1. e4 ones.

GM Normund Mizies plays like this with White:

1.c4 c6 2.e4 (Caro-Kann,Steiner-Variation)

1.c4 e6 2.e4 d5 (leads to a French Exchange Variation)

Usually it's good to transpose to your 1.d4-defense. If that's not possible, you should look at 1...c5 or 1...e5.

Saint_Anne

I play 1c4 a lot.  NBKXX has it right.

mikkothegeeko

Dang! I need to learn the Caro-Kann then.

SilentKnighte5

It's a pretty explosive opening.

Playful_Tiger

Learning the Caro-Kann seems worthwhile

I believe Karpov was noting just the other day that the Karo-Slavy thing is super dangerous in the right hands.

Underappreciated comment.
