Favorite opening?

Statute

1. g4 white and as black

...1. g5 against anything (yes including 1.Nf3) Herrstrom gambit

My favourite opening differs on what mood i am in at the time of the game.

The 4 pawns attack in the King's Indian or Alekhine?

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.f4

AND

1.e4 Nf6 2.e5 Nd5 3.d4 d6 4.c4 Nb6 5.f4

Are both the "4 pawns attack".

I know it's the King's Indian not sure about Alekhine...

1 e4 cannot possibly depend on how black responds by the very nature of the game; white moves first!

me: I took him to mean opening sequence vs. pure opening move.

I can sort of see it as a sequence, but 1 e4 as an opening for white does not depend on black at all, although how black responds can of course determine white's next step.

French Defense!  Give me Black, Give me White.  Doesn't matter!

Heh. That's how I feel about the Ruy Lopez.

This opening stuck to me for 1.5 years. It still remains my favorite.

I like the 2. e6 Sicilian for black, and the English for white.

As Black against 1E4 the Petroffs Defense, Sicilian Defense particularly the Najdorf,Dragon, Accelerated Dragon, Hyperaccelated Dragon, Pirc Defense etc. Against 1D4 I like getting into some Slav Defenses, Semi Slav Defenses, Queen's Indian Defense, Nimzo Indian Defense, some Queen's Gambit Declined lines. As White I mix it up with either the Bird Opening. I also like mixing it up with the King's Indian Attack. If I open with 1D4 then the Queen's Gambit, London System King's Indian Defense. I also like playing the English Opening as well. If I open with 1E4 then I like playing the Guy Lopez. Both the Four Knights variation as well as the regular Ruy Lopez. The Scotch Game, either regular or Four Knights version. I also like the Italian Game, particularly the Giuouco Piano.

Interesting opening choices no Grandmaster ever played before

Scotch discovered it on my own, used it in most my OTB games... getting into Scotch gambit, Checknhover Sicilian because I don't give a care about trading bishops for knights and the Sicilian French variation is my own creation (RHYME TIME!!) and I win with it lots even though it immediately -0.5 on Stockfish... don't tell my opponents though, +NO GM EVER PLAYED THE BF4 LINE!!!! So they are totally unprepared for my secret weapon... bwah hah hah hah hah hah...

Personally I prefer a lenigrad dutch when playing as black, mainly since I am comfortable with the pawn structures and tactics that arise from it; which tend to make others uncomfortable playing against it. But it is an opening that one really needs to understand the first several moves, in order, as it easy to make mistakes that can easily lead to a loss if not careful. A solid opening if you know it, but avoid playing it until you do. Move order of first 8 moves is important imo.
