Is this book worth it when it comes down to the number of changes if you already own the first edition?

I cant find a proper review on amazon or anywhere else.

u can't find a review? lol... search again, google is your friend.

Avrukh is used by many titled players, but its really high level stuff.

Too many variations, too complicated if u are sub 2000.

LostRedoubt

I am going through it and it is good stuff. Probably written above my current ability though!

Here is the link to the review on Silman's website http://dev.jeremysilman.com/shop/pc/Grandmaster-Repertoire-1-d4-Volume-One-76p3541.htm

Book is aimed at 2200+ players according to this review.

I think rohirrimelf was asking about a comparison of the 2008 volume 1 with the 2015 volume 1A.

kindaspongey,

I am indeed looking for a recent review on the 2015 edition. It is easy to find one on the 2008 edition but hard to get one on the latest edition. I`ve given up anyway after searching 15 minutes.

Anyway, 4 responces but my question did not get answered.

I`ve got 1900-2000 rating in real life and i find this book very helpfull even do i cant learn everything till the end. It is helpfull to play through anyway to study the middlegame after the opening. Even do i can`t remember the exact move orders that far.

IM poucin,

your responce was not helpfull in any way.

Sorry but i didnt know Avrukh wrote another "bible", i should have noticed your "first edition".

My mistake, nobody's perfect...

Anyway, just a book on Catalan, hmmm, i coulnt recommend this for anyone, except u play at titled level.

The problem of this kind of stuff : u read it, u enjoy it, then u forget it and finally, did it make u improve? That's the same for most opening books, and specially opening books with this format. Personnally, i think the better format to learn opening is annotated games, instead of lines...

I searched a review and i was unable to find any, strange when this book seems to be released in 2015.

I wonder why, specially when his 2 former bibles were acclaimed.

Not helpfull again i guess, well nobody's perfect as i said below, it is just a forum and there is no obligation to be helpfull.

For years, I have not seen online reviews by FM Carsten Hansen. I have only seen very sporadic reviews by IM John Donaldson and IM John Watson. I think it would be good for someone to take up the slack.

I remember a year or so ago on the quality chess blog they were highlighting a few differences. Could ask for information there. Didn't may too much attention myself. Not a 1.d4 player, and don't think FIDE 2000 players and below can cause me much damage in an opening like the catalan.

thank you TwoMove
