King's indian attack against 1) ... d5

Greetings,

I've read that the King's indian attack is a good opening because it can be played against any defense, except for 1) ... d5.

If so, how can black play the King's indian defense successfully against 1) d4?

Yours,

Black can't play e5 against d4 on first move in King Indian Defence. If you are scared of 1... d5 play Nf3 or e3 on first move... Then you can "always" play KIA

The King's Indian Attack >setup< can be played against almost everything if you play 1.Nf3 first.

If you play the KIA with 1.e4 first, then Black can go straight for a Scandinavian with 1...d5.

In other case, you are very happy to meet ...d5 as White since you are more likely to play the mainline of the KIA (against a French pawns structure on Black side)  rather than just a development scheme.
