Historically, the Kings gambit is far more respectable as many interesting and important games in a chess history have involved it and it had the respect of the World’s elite. The Morra has never garnered any real respect and I think the only strong player who thinks it’s a good opening is IM Marc Esserman. While the Morra is not good, I still think that is more respectable modern day as I don’t think Black has any response that wins by force (Black can get very comfortable equality though, like in the Alapin). The King’s gambit does not deserve any respect anymore because of the Schallop Defense, which has been shown to be a practical refutation of the entire King’s Gambit by strong theoreticians like GM Matthias Wahls, who recently did some really nice analysis on his site. Of course, this defense is rare and few amateurs know about it. In fact, I had never even seen it before coming across GM Wahls’ analysis. The Schallop Defense is:

Now, after all of this, if you still think the King’s Gambit is a viable opening, here’s a game where the World Champion Magnus Carlsen get blown off the board in a mere 23 moves by the Schallop.
