It's still a big problem in your 'opening' though.
I think you underestimate the time it takes to really find something new that's actually decent though. I guess you could do something bad and claim it's your opening, but you don't want the Michael defense to be something horrible I'd say.

I guess didi finally found it! the Michael defense is a unique opening as it changes all the time.
You might be fooled into thinking this is some bad sicilian or benoni depending on which variation is in the OP right now. But it's not! after all, all those stale lines miss something every good chess player values: flexibility.
Think about it! It's like the Borg in Star Trek, always adapting, always improving. Who knows what the Michael defense will look like in a year, for all we know it could be some 1.e3 line. Think about it!
