Playing against the Queen's Indian as White

Anyways, I don't really like the feel of this gambit. I mean, I see its potential, but it's not really for me.

Slav2Luv

Well. Don't play then.

Try it out in a few games first before you make your final verdict! wink.pngwink.pngwink.png

I think it is sort of the problem playing the QueensIndian as black. A lot of club players playing against 4g3 Bb7, for example are quite comfortable playing dull lines were the bb7 and Ne4 get vacuumed off, rather than playing the more interesting positions with d5 pawn sacs.

If they want exciting try KID instead.

I would have to disagree.

You really can't say that the Nimzo or the Grunfeld or KID are inferior to the Queen's Gambits.

What are your reasons?

This just seems to force going into the Nimzo/Queen's hybrid line, which is fine if that's what black wants, but this doesn't concern me so much as white. As black I prefer the 4...Ba6 mainline paths at this point, and only playing Bb4+ if white plays b3  to defend the c4 pawn

Best for a mid ranking club player anyway? Classic Slav or QGD can be learned in less than a week... but are proven at WC level. Not saying they are better, but are a more pragmatic option for club players.

It'll only be Nimzo if White goes Nc3. I don't think people who go for 3. Nf3 will play Nc3 here.
