I tend to play: Nf6, d6, Nd7/Bf5.... and e5 pretty late...

Have you ever looked into the Nimzovich Defense? That one is off the beaten path and might appeal to you. There's a series of videos about it posted on youtube by chess.com member NM Aww-Rats.

I have enjoyed playing the Old Indian and I would like to find something similar vs e4. Low tech and robust. Playing OI I tend to delay My blunders.
Suggestions?
