Guys he IS talking about "players that don't really play past the 6th rank"! You can see it in the OP! He's not referring to time. Stop bashing him. (but if he is that's stupid)
Or continue bashing, but for the right reasons please.

I could be wrong but personally I've come to believe that it can't be an accident that there is so much significantly slow play and often in poor spirit. Could be software as I find it hard to believe the amount of it could be due to players who are actually this slow. And you're right it's often moves that are forced or don't require any real thought. Demoralising and puts people off internet chess or at any rate giving it much respect.

If you would have bothered to read the original post you would know this has got nothing to do with the supposed topic of the thread...
Ive been playing a lot of games lately and these "slow" players are really starting to bother me. They don't make any useful moves just hope you make a mistake. Granted I am not very good, but it seems like these "slow" players should be able to be destroyed with simple moves. I just have a hard time in the middle game forming any sort of plan and end up losing to these "slow" players and beating myself. I try to get my pieces out in the opening and get my king to saftey but after that I have a hard time seeing anywhere to continue weather it be attacking or just improving pieces. How do I combat these "slow" player?
ah I see the problem. You need a plan. Or find what you want to do with each piece. Look at all his moves and look whats the problem with it. You will find that you will do awfully well when it comes to attacking. For example if he plays a position and you have 5 pieces on the his kingside he has 1. You know you have something. But play fast maybe sacrafice material to open his king for a attack using pawns as the ram. The worse that could happen is you blunder some tactic. So you could maybe have a plan to expand on the kingside or manuever your pieces for an attack. In a long game if you dont see anything play the most natural move. If they are a slow player you could spend their time thinking on your behalf. You might be wondering. Why should i listen to 1200. Well actually im 2200 on lichess. and 2000 in tactics if you look on my chess.com. I lose games on time or time trouble. Also make scary moves or moves with seemingly an idea this way the opponent that plays slow will spend even more time. They will feel like something is wrong and overcommit.

also remember a position is only better for you according to the engine if you find the right ideas or plans. For example you could have a much better position because of attacking chances. But if you dont attack at all then you dont have an advantage its that simple. A 1000 rated player is unable to see these ideas. Thus in an attack if there is a +8 idea they often think theyre better and dont try to look for more. You cant really gain an advantage if you dont use your other advantages. Even if the attack fails. Psychologically your opponent will be scared. Also you will have longterm pressure on his position
It's amazing. People on the chess.com forums are so awful towards each other and maybe thay don't even realize it. And I'm just siting here laughing at some comments.
