Good game but 5...Nxe4 is so risky when 5...Be7 is so simple, specially in a blitz game, crazy to go into that stuff.

Anyway, Black played the main line up to 10...Nxc2 which is a mistake.

10...c6 instead gives a difficult game for white...

Did u see Simon Williams video series about this gambit?

He considers that Qe2 is not so good, thus proposes a very good alternative with Bd3.

I personally like Bologan's suggestion playing 5. ... Nb4 it is way easier to remember then messy Nxe4 moves.

granfalloon

True that 5...Be7 is safer, but white have good chances there too. I don't state white is winning of course, but has a good game.

I didn't knonw about 5...Nb4, thanks for writing about that.

@granfalloon : i am sure u understand very much better than a GM like S.Williams and many strong players who opted for Nxf6.

Did u notice than anyway, knights will be traded, on d5 or in f6?

The idea is bringing black queen on f6 to gain tempo with Bg5 later or e5.

Bc4 (instead of Nxf6) is a important alternative but leads to mass exchanges after something like 6.Bc4 Nbxd5 7.e4xd5 Bb4+ 8.Bd2 Qe7+ 9.Qe2 Bxd2+ 10.Kxd2 Qxe2+ 11.Kxe2, white will recover d4 with a drawish position. So Nxf6 trading pieces, ok but its worse after Bc4...

The problem in my opinion with S.Williams series, is that he considers Be7 lines as slightly better for white, i totally disagree and i think its slightly better for black, some books recommending this line for black...

When i say this line, i mean, all his line, up to the end when he judges the position as a good try for white. I was surprised he changed judgement of this position (from authors like Emms, Marin...), then for curiosity i switched on stockfish, maybe it was computer's preference, but no, it still prefers black...

1 : u didnt comment what i said about your game...

2 : " I agree in general it's bad to exchange pieces with a pawn down while trying to attack. I wonder how a strong player can advice a move like 6. Nxf6? It just can't be good..",  I am the one who is sarcastic? U just tell GM's opinion is bad because u think it is, based on a general principle but u should read this article :

https://www.chess.com/article/view/fischer-the-rebel

3 : i was not sarcastic, i just reacted on u words which, for your level (which seems good but far away from a GM), lacks perspective or humility...

Ok it's very rare at high level (what do u call high level, +2200 or +2600?), even non existent, but if such a player plays it, i don't think we can tell it is a bad opening...

Even Tal gave it a try, several times...

U can find games where grand masters lose with black, so who here could be able to tell : "i can beat anyone on this opening with black"? Probably nobody...

I deleted my comments including the first one, to avoid further pointless discussions about my playing level/value of gambit this gambit line/ elements of my personality (lack of humility...?). Have a nice day to all of you

I'm sorry granfalloon deleted his post- I was looking for stuff on the Belgrade Gambit. But I gotta say I agree with his evaluation of the remaining posts.
