I just played against 1. .. Nc6 for the first time and it transposed into a a slightly different Winawer (nc6 rather than c5). Haven't analyzed the game yet but I'm sure both our play was suboptimal:
Well, surely the transposition in the Winawer and specifically the 5...d5 ? move were poor ideas from Black. But I think 5...b6 could be playable - not great, but playable.
Good Game. Keep playing and analyzing. You will improve!
Your 5...Nge7 sideline does not seem obviously flawed to me, but saying after 11...Qg6 (not a great move btw, it blocks the g pawn) that 'Black has a good game' is just wrong. Black has just a few cheap tricks around the g2 square, but White has more space, the pair of bishops, and possibly an option for a d5 push after what all black pieces are running for their lives.
As for 5 'Black is a tempo up in development', NO. The Bc8 will take at least two moves to develop, when White's bishops are free (he might even want to play a3-a4 to attack on the a file and / or play Ba3).
Your "playable game here" in the 8...Qe8 sideline does not convince me after 12.g4 - wanna play with double isolated pawns and a bad bishop after the queen trade ? And besides, after 9...Ng6, the obvious attacking move is h4 that you seem not to have even considered.
10...h5 a losing blunder : but what would you play ? If you let the queen acces to h6 and the bishop to f6 the checkmate can't be avoided. 9...Re8 was the losing blunder, the only way I can see out of this mess is 9...f6 that will lose the exchange or a piece, and that speaks volume about the values of the previous moves.
11...a5 I agree it's a stupid move, but anyways it's already over. ...Kg7 Bf6+ and hxg6 for example.
There are probable flaws in every line I talked about, but I'm not here to give perfect continuations. I'm trying to help people analyze their own games. These are sample lines that Black will have to study on his own in post-mortem analysis. I will seriously be here all day if I put in all the lines. I'm sure Black got the idea of what I was trying to point out. He has got to do the analysis, if I sit here and give him answers, he can't learn. You may yourself post a gam eofyours that we can talk about.
Thanks for the analysis, will help with my own analysis. But you know I was white right, my opponent played Nc6.
I didn't play 10. Qh6 because then Nf5 is possible and taking the queen would just exchange. Maybe there is something deeper though.
Haha, didn't know that! Well so much for the analysis, well you played a good game perhaps you can post another game for analysis. This time I will get the color right!
