Which opening should I play?

I am a Ruy Lopez player and like openings for Black like the Berlin Defence.Which opening should i play against D4

I like tactical play and open positions

Its too closed of a game and not tactical

If you are a tactical player you can choose between the king's indian, the modern benoni and the grunfeld. If you are positional the nimzo-indian or the semi-slav.

The Indian Defence:- 1.d4 Nf6

King's Indian Defence:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6

Nimzo-Indian Defence:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Bb4

Grünfeld Defence:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5

Budapest Gambit:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e5

Queen's Indian Defence:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf6 b6

Benoni Defence:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 (or 2...g6) 3.Nc3 c5

Benko Gambit:- 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 (or 2...g6) 3.Nc3 c5 4.d5 b5

In addition to these, there are many other openings. I hope all of this helps. You are an Indian, so play the Indian Defence!!

You like tactical positions, and yet you play he Berlin?  You might want to look at the Zaitsev instead.

I likethe Berlin as I am very used to playing as white and can understand the positional aspects of the game.I hate playing a3 as I playthe Exchange Variation and believe it to be superior.If I need to defend I can do that too.The Berlin has a real equality to it and the Indian defences do not.I tried playing the Nimzo for a few matches but everyone deviated from the mainline.My major problem is positionally attacking,I can defend quite well.Ill play the Grunfield.

Could you ust explain the basic theory of it?
