this just in: being sarcastic in some poor saps boring forum topic will get you a -1 in the friend column and boot from his topic.

Pre_VizsIa

That's not the same as being banned! *phew

There's a full discussion of this enduring problem in another thread.

I'd be a mute! There are some bullies out there, so you got a political corretness slap on the wrist. Wear it proudly and don't tease the bears.

yedddy

apparently being admittedly sarcastic and annoying can get a whole team banned, too!

http://www.chess.com/chessgroups

a group i was in doesn't exist anymore!

like annoying people or not, but banning their team for having a difference of opinion is down right facist.period.

I know what the problem is. CNN reported today that more people are paying for things with their phone. They did a big story about these apps. Evidently hackers can make an app that looks like pay-pal and CNN advised listeners to be very careful. My thesis is that we are NOT on chess.com right now. THIS is a look a like wanna be chess site. We were all diverted here. Erik is an alien, Staff has gone mad, and WHO took my cigarettes?

Put the smokes down and slowly back away from the ashtray.

You are saying that we are interacting in a virtual reality that appears to be chess.com and that we believe to be chess.com...

No, not a "weak minded looser (sic)".  The nicotine addiction is one of the hardest to break, and Ronald has been doing great in his efforts to quit.  He is down to just a couple or so per day.

So stop acting like an assclown.

Banning sarcasm? Who had this brilliant idea?

Ziggy_Zugzwang

It might not be because you were sarcastic. Perhaps it was because of your good looks, intelligence , chess ability and reputation of your country for being more interesting than theirs ?

I liked the guy who said, "Quitting smoking? It's easy. I've done it hundreds of times!"

Cool     "sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence," - Oscar Wilde.

hahahahahahahaha  Thank you Jamie. I REFUSE to smoke more than 1 a day. Maybe one more good deep Hypnosis session will kill that 1 cig.  I see checkmatedyouHaHa is gone.  For the life of me I can't understand why?  He was such a nice guy. Oups, my sarcasm is showingThank you Staff.

I only smoke one cigarette - one after another.

I wouldn't be too bothered by that. Sometimes you get the same treatment for no particular reason at all.

And let's not forget the old chestnut:

"Sarcasm, after all, is merely the quick recourse of a weak mind..."

ebillgo

I don't like to be sarcastic except when someone posts a thread with the formula: If A played B, who would win ? Whatof good will come out  of winning the argument in such hypothetical questions ?  Still, these threads keep coming , ad infinitum.

Think I'll go with this definition:

I'd say that not only is this thread the best ever on Chess.com but the best on any forum anywhere....Possibly more educational than the works of Shakespeare, the Bible and all of Plato's writings put together !

That is a crappy quote. Oscar Wilde said a lot of dumb stuff.
