You either have superGM tactical ability or you're cheating. I'm not gonna tell you how, but it's pretty well known how to game the system. No I don't get it either, but some folks do it I suppose just because they can.
How do you get a ridiculously high tactics rating?
Good point.
Mine is about 2600, but I think that's a little high. Sometimes I get a 1-move-problem, and the problem's rating is about 2500-2600. Weird right?

Could you maybe share the technique with me?
There's no rhyme or reason to how puzzles are rated except how our fellow members do on them. I remember before I reset my TT I was doing around a 100 a day and the puzzles I got in the 16 and 1700's really didn't seem that more difficult than the 13 and 1400s. Sure sometimes you have a monster calculation to make, but many of the harder puzzles just seemed a little offbeat and required you to think unconventionally. I'm sure there's a masters thesis somewhere on the psychology of chess.

I could, but I won't. Oh I'm sure if you spent half a day reading every archived thread on tactics or the TT, you'd find out how. I mean that's how I found out, but why? Why would you want an artificially inflated TT rating? And they may have already closed the method down, I don't know; I've never actually tried it.

I didn't say I want to use it. I'm just interested how people do it. A link maybe?
someone post a easy 2600 puzzle
I remember MSC157 once sent me an extremely trivial (on surface) tactic rated in 2700s I think... But that was years ago.
are you allowed to use engine for tactics trainer
I'm not sure, but why would you?
are you allowed to use engine for tactics trainer
You can't use engine in live chess. Why would you be able to use one in tactics?
I suppose if you are a paid member you can do 100's of puzzles a day and if you have good memory you could recall the solutions as many times you will get repeat problems. You see it in those posts where "x" player got 100% for a complicated solution which takes even GM players much time to solve and "x" player is only rated 1600 in blitz. You can tell the TT cheats from their respective ratings that something does not add up. For example they have TT rating that is > 700 than their next highest rating either for Standard or Blitz. I know that when I played TT on my Android phone that I would be able to see a preview of the puzzle before I atempted it, so could try and think of the possible first move and solve it before it is officially presented to me so saving much time. I don't think computer use in TT is against the rules as you are not hurting anyone else and only kidding yourself.
Go through a good chess book while you attempt the TT. Most of the problems in TT are simple and the real test they offer is to know what to look for. If you know what it is the position demands, you'll easily find the moves.
While the position given in books is entirely on a different level. It will definitely boost you tactical skills.
Using engine will actually plunder your tactical skills and as for "high ratings" you will soon loose interest.
Repeats, when i used v3 i would easily get to 2500ish now when i used regular chess.com im back to 2400. idk why but theres so many repeats in v3 lol
Sorry. A pet peeve of mine. I have a whole webpage devoted to it.
How does your tactics rating get to 3600???
