If this comes true, it's not like it will be a remarkable prediction. The odds of this happening are not that low. Obviously Carlsen will lose the title one day, he could very easily win it back, as have other WC's in the past...

Caruana had a good tourney awhile back and he was future Carlsen DESTROYER. Now So has a couple good tourney's and he is THE CHOSEN ONE. Grischuk isn't a bad guess. My guess would be that Carlsen retains the title for at least two more cycles before he gets bored.

And before Caruana, Karjakin was the next big thing after he finished second in the Candidates'.
But anyway, if Carlsen loses his title after 2 more cycles, I think that would count as the near future.
Just a completely intuitive prediction of mine, not really backed up by any kind of analysis or anything. I just want to get it out there right now in case it turns out that I was absolutely right.
