my stats don't seem to add up with the general population. Roughly 30% of most games are draws, however I have had roughly 2% draws. I am wondering what better players think of this statistic:

Does anyone have any solid resources on building late game specifically for drawing not winning or loosing ??????

30% ? Where did you get that number? Perhaps for tournament chess, not for blitz chess, which is what you play.

The sudden death of one or the other player at the end of the time control cuts way down on the number of draws.

One lesson you can use in blitz if you are winning but running out of time. Make every effort to trade down the remaining material and sacrifice if necessary to eliminate your opponent's last pawns. Without mating material, it doesn't matter if your flag falls, the game will be declared a draw owing to your opponent having insufficient material to mate.

So, five queens still lose when they lose on time to a king and a pawn, but draw when the last pawn is eliminated.
