Does a club need a Super Administrator ?

BlizzardLizzard

Our club's only Super Administrator has closed his account. I don't know why. But now that he's no longer there do we need to replace him ?

I think super admins have the power to kick out and ban other members.

You may be able to contact the site and see if they will elevate someone. I don't know if they will elevate a non-paying member to SA status. Only way to figure it out is to ask.

MENTAC

You have to make a forum in which to conduct a member vote for a new SA and then submit the results to chess.com staff.  Shaun normally handles that.

Send him a PM.  He'll tell you what to do.

Unless you want founder to do most of work.

If you lose a super admin then what you need is a super duper one next. wink.png

He WAS the founder ! He apparently closed his account without warning and there weren't even any administrators that he had appointed. We just had five coordinators. What I'm asking are we required by Chess.com to replace our Super Administrator and if not can we actually function properly without one ? Thank you for your answers.

MENTAC

You're not required to replace the SA, but you'll be forever crippled with only coordinators.   You can't invite, remove or ban members, can you? And you certainly can't make new coordinators let alone admins and SA's. Write @shaun.  He'll tell you what to do.   It's not hard.  You just make a forum and ask the members to vote in it for a new SA.  It's OK if very few participate in the vote.

That's what I thought MENTAC. We're not required to but it would be very impractical to try to run a club without a SA. Thanks for your answer and everyone else's answers too.

good luck choose well i hope your next SA  is the super dooper one rjc mentions , follow mentac's advice , get your club back up and running , all the best

Potato50012

You don't technically need an SA, your club would be run by and unchanging set of admins.

There are clubs with no admins, and even without any members.

Potato50012, Billy clubs come to mind, but they still need someone to administer them! happy.png
