Fair and Open Discussion club.

TrooperChessOrTC

Welcome!
To a club of open discussion and debates, a place to make personally believed statements or thoughts known, of sharing ideas and knowledge, and a club for coming together and collaborating on ideas. A club to argue in, a club to make friendly or unfriendly acquaintances. A club where a member can ask for help on something and receive loose help tips from other members.

(Note this club is for only members above 18 years of age, come in at your own risk if below 18!) Also, we only accept Chess.com users that have been a member for longer than 3 months.

This is a club where all topics are allowed for discussion. (Excluding Racial and other types of hate speeches and other such discussions, are not allowed to be promoted here.) We do have rules, yet we are fair and transparent in our dealings towards any members who break the club or site wide rules. Admins are supposed to not work on their own terms, all offenses (Excluding hate speech offensives.) are to be delegated with the other Admins through the HQ first. Also, if any comment or OP is to be deleted, the offending commenter shall receive their comment or OP back through PM before it is deleted. We also have an implemented system where the OP (First comment) of a forum topic can add specific rules just for their forum. The OP can go to a thread and copy and paste any of the allowed options. However the OP is not allowed to block other points of view. The OP is allowed to chose such as not allowing videos on their own forum or not allowing memes or gifs as a forum of discussion. However, another forum creator may allow such.

Sexual topics are allowed, however a poster must have (Sexual Topic/Debate.) in the first part of the title of their forum. This is in order to inform members of the explicit content. So if you are not interested in anything sexual, and see the topic is listed as such, please do ignore that post, the rest of the club should be fine. Any forum about any Sexual topic without the informing context in the first part of the topic's title would be deleted, yet the offensive user would receive their entire OP back through PM. So that user does not lose their statement permanently. This applies to all rule offending threads.

We also participate in friendly in house chess tournaments against each other, as well in playing vote chess and 960 matches against other teams.

You are welcomed to join!

We are looking for tough, honest, unbiased (when preforming their duties), Admins. Promoting the club through the forums is not required, yet sending invites is. Also, it is required, that you are active in club activities, forums, and in reporting in F.O.D HQ.

Hey! This is an invitation to join the club Fair and Open Discussion. (F.O.D) Where debates of politics and religion are accepted. A club where the rules are up held fairly and transparently. A club for friendly debates and wild arguments. A place to collaborate on projects or to share songs, jokes, or pictures. For more information, please visit our club main page. F.O.D is a small group at the moment. There isn't much going on . It is optionally asked if you would please suggest the club to users you think might be interested in joining.
Thanks.

Why of course, is this not allowed in the Chess.com Community section?

I tried the club for a couple of weeks. Not a broad range of perspectives that I could see, and the most interesting topic was someone pushing a right-wing conspiracy about an environmental initiative support by President Bush the Elder.

Hey, sorry to see you have left Fair and Open Discussion. Would you mind stating why? If you do not mind, your thoughts and views would be used in making a better club.

Thanks, good luck.

I found myself spending too much time there (about an hour one morning--including reading to prepare my replies). The discussion was not productive; it was not worth that time.

There is nothing really wrong with how the club is structured. However, the the club seems strongly skewed in favor of perspectives that are pretty far to one side. That may change if you can attract a larger number of members.

I thought about staying in and unfollowing just to give it time, but life is short and getting shorter with each passing day.

Thank you, that is understandable.

so, you joined this topic to simply shoot down trooper? who let you out of your od cage? you are not the boss here as you are in so-called open discussion. best you go back there while considering a coupla things.

do you see how hypocritical the rule you wrote is? so, cc has a dedicated forum for clubs and teams-but do not post about your club there!

also, cc staff has regularly posted the link to your group when there was any discussion of politics, religion, or, anything off limits, publicly. well, there are now multiple offshoot groups similar to od.

in other words, that is likely why they allow this while not adjusting the rule.

now, back in your cage.
