Game 10:

Game 11 finished, and wow, did chesster make me work for this one! I still have no idea if I should have won this a lot quicker, or if I should have won it at all.

Chesster offered a draw about move 33, I turned it down because I saw the continuation to win the c-pawn, though I wasn't certain it was enough to win. From move 80 myc-pawn is hanging, chesster can't take it though as long as my king is next to e5 because I can fork him and force the trade. 88.Qf2 was the fatal blunder. I haven't looked at it a lot but I don't see an immediate continuation for me to force the trade after Qh7, but the queen doesn't have any other options.

Games 7-11 are finished, I lead 6.5-4.5. Theron seems to have found a foothold.

I don't think I should have taken the draw in Game 10 quite yet, even though I have nothing after 48... Rxb5 49. Kxb5 Kxh3 50. c4 g4 51. c5 g3 52. c6 g2 53. c7 g1=Q 54. c8=Q+.

I lost the track of the games while I was muted and something was going on there at the time. Does anybody have a spreadsheet?

Glad to have you back! No, no one made a spreadsheet. You're the professional Wink

Game 10 was pretty clearly drawn if you take the rook trade. We both end up with king and queen. If you were going to play on you have to play 48. ... Re4+. I don't think there was anything there for you, though.

There are some interesting games in this set.

The most intriguing is a Normal QGA that turned upside down when I uncorked the novelty 9. b4!?

Game 12 finished. Blundered too much material.

And I strike back almost immediately. I think maybe chesster was too quick to resign. Up the exchange, I should be winning but my pawns are fragmented and it's far from over yet.

I think 17... Kf7 is the only move there. I wasn't expecting the blunder there but was happy to accept Smile I think I'm still happy with my position after Kf7, probably foolishly so.

I played Nf5+ intending to repeat moves twice and then take on b7. Instead I got this.

After 14, chesster has (+8-5=1) and Theron (+5-8=1), if I'm not mistaken.

Avatar of chesster3145

Yep. 8.5-5.5.

Game 14

Yeah, a bit of a brain departure at the end. This one was looking ugly anyway. As is one of the last two; the other looks like a draw.

Last two games of this set done. Game 15, maybe chesster resigned too soon again? Maybe I'm just far too stubborn in lost positions.

Game 16:

In Game 15, I broke from QGA theory, not wanting the slight theoretical advantage the books give me.

My question is, what do you think of 9. b4?

Avatar of TheronG12

Not really qualified to comment.

I think 27. Rc6 was a mistake. Your rook got shut in and couldn't do anything for you. You had chances to get it back out, but you'd just have lost a move for nothing.
