Does anyone other than me give “awards” or “cheers” to opponents?
I sent you one. I hope it brightens your day.
To me, it's not that important. I'm here to play chess, and not really hang out on the forum.
Thank you to all that responded. I guess I use them to thank my opponents for allowing me to play some other human and not just a bot.
I confess that I started giving awards after my blitz games to earn the giving badge. But, it has become a habit to reward my opponents for playing/beating me. But, after a couple thousand games, no one has given me an award. Is that because there is a culture of not giving awards? Help a confused player understand the proper etiquette.
Unless a chess.com friend, I don't typically send awards for live chess, unless the game really left a big impression on me, or if we played and then rematched several times or something.
I often send awards after Daily Chess though; longer time control, you become more invested in the individual, but blitz most people are onto the next blitz game and maybe if lucky, they are onto the analysis board before the next blitz game.
