Does anyone other than me give “awards” or “cheers” to opponents?

I confess that I started giving awards after my blitz games to earn the giving badge. But, it has become a habit to reward my opponents for playing/beating me. But, after a couple thousand games, no one has given me an award. Is that because there is a culture of not giving awards? Help a confused player understand the proper etiquette.
