Got a million email notifications; how to stop?

Hi all,
I signed up to play in the Judit Polgar vs. the World and immediately got hundreds -- hundreds -- of email notifications from people commenting even before the game started. I tried in settings to kill the notifications, but it wasn't working. How do I turn off email notifications? Thank you.
