If you are approved for cash tournaments, there is supposed to be some "approved" sign.

Where is it?

poggeezerking

@notmtwain, I have messaged a chess.com staff and they have given me approval. Not all clubs need an "approved" sign I believe

That doesn't make sense.

How is anyone supposed to distinguish legitimate tournament organizers from ripoff artists?

Who on the chess.com staff gave you approval?

poggeezerking

Please private message me and I'll send you a screenshot of our conversation.

poggeezerking

This is not fake in the slightest. There is no entrance fee, so what can you lose? Furthermore, I have this money from a grant I applied for. If you'd like proof that we're an approved club then contact chess.com yourselves.

Legitimate or not, it would take talent to win, so that counts me out right away.

I have asked chess.com for a sign, but they are only given to clubs that are fan clubs or OTB clubs. If you want evidence, feel free to contact chess.com

I know how these scams work.

When it comes time to paying out, you will respond with one of two things:

1) You claim they need to pay you a small fee in order to receive the cash prize. Like they have to send you $5 first or whatever, before you'll transfer them.

2) You request documents to "verify their identity". You steal their ID, steal their bank and credit card details, and use it all against them.
